A little bit about me

I am a God-loving, healthy lifestyle enthusiast, mother of 4, animal obsessed and married to my best friend.  Life is good!

Faith:

I find strength and comfort from reading scriptures and daily prayer.  God is my anchor and the provider of all that is good.  I am truly blessed.  Joshua 24:15

My heart wells up with joy when I think or talk about my family.  My 4 adult children are nothing short of amazing.  Kind, generous, intelligent, witty, athletic, and hard-working, they have my utmost respect and my unabashed mama-pride.  My son-in-law is one of the most spiritual men whom I know and I value his knowledge and am grateful for his love of my oldest daughter.  My husband has been my very best friend for more than 30 years.  Together, we’ve experienced many wonderful times and together we have worked through some difficulties.  I cannot imagine my life without him.

Furry-family members:

When my children were in elementary school, I was the mom the teachers called to take in the classroom pets at the end of the year.  We had a crayfish that lived over 10 years!  We’ve raised geckos, fish, lizards, stray kitties and rescued puppies.  Our labradors have been loyal and loving companions and they are super awesome hiking dogs.

Career:

I am passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of others.  I’ve devoted my entire career to implementing healthy living opportunities for those within my community.  I work collaboratively with others in various sectors such as business, education, government and healthcare, to increase physical activity, improve healthy food access and decrease exposure to and use of tobacco products.  My passion is working with the disparaged populations, helping them to have the same opportunities for healthy living as the others in our community.

Recreation:

I love being physically active.  I began teaching both group exercise and martial arts in the 1980s, before fitness was an industry.  I have far too many group exercise, personal training and yoga certifications to list!  I currently teach Les Mills BODYPUMP, Power Yoga and Christian Yoga classes several times each week.  My personal daily yoga practice keeps me energized, injury-free and grounded.  My absolute favorite activity is hiking, and therefore I spend most weekends on a trail somewhere in this beautiful country.
